Federal Air Marshals (Sky Marshals)
Federal Air Marshals (Sky Marshals) are armed federal law-enforcement officers assigned to assure the safety of the flying public by preventing and interdict hijackings and terrorist attacks involving U.S. commercial aircraft.

Drug Enforcement Agents
Drug enforcement agents specialize in the enforcement of drug laws and regulations. Their responsibilities includes: conducting complex criminal investigations, carrying out surveillance of criminals, infiltrating drug organizations using undercover techniques; and working closely with confidential sources of information to collect evidence leading to the seizure of assets gained from the sale of illegal drugs.

Customs Agents
Customs agent enforce laws governing imports and exports to prevent smuggling of goods across the U.S. borders. Their responsibilities includes: insuring that all cargo is properly described, inspecting baggage and articles carried by passengers and crew members; examining, counting, weighing, gauging, measuring and sampling commercial and noncommercial cargoes entering and leaving the U.S. to determine admissibility and the amount of duties that must be paid. Customs agents are stationed at airports, seaports, and border crossing points in the U.S. and/or overseas.

Security Officers
Security officers patrol and inspect property to protect airlines and airports against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal activity. Although all security officers perform the same general function, specific duties vary with the size, type, and location of the employer, as well as the type of assignment. Security officers may work in a static security position or on a mobile patrol. Those assigned to static security positions usually serve their client or employer at one location, while officers assigned to mobile patrol duty drive or walk from location to location and conduct security checks within an assigned geographical zone. Some officers carry weapons that must be licensed by the appropriate government authority.

Accident Investigators

Aviation accident investigators collect information and evidence about aircraft accidents, interview witnesses and possibly conducts tests to understand why the accident happened and how to prevent future accidents to help the aviation industry in making flight safer.

Aviation Safety Inspectors
Aviation safety inspectors develop, administer, and enforce regulations and standards concerning civil aviation safety. They monitor the airworthiness of aircraft and aircraft systems; the competence of pilots, mechanics, and other aviation personnel; and the safety aspects of aviation facilities, equipment, and procedures. Aviation safety inspectors must be knowledgeable about the operation, maintenance, and manufacture of aircraft and aircraft systems.

Security Screeners
Security screeners, federal employees of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), are responsible for performing pre-board screening of persons and their carry-on and/or checked baggage, and assisting in monitoring the flow of passengers through the screening checkpoint to facilitate the orderly and efficient processing of passengers. Security-screening procedures were implemented to protect the traveling public by preventing any deadly or dangerous objects from being transported onto an aircraft. Security screeners are typically required to conduct screening at any airport that provides commercial services to the public.

Security Specialists
The Federal Aviation Administration employs two types of security specialist agents:
Dangerous Goods & Cargo Security Specialists
Dangerous goods and cargo security specialists are responsible for coordinating and performing investigative, inspection and advisory work on hazardous materials cases, or portions of hazardous materials cases at designated airports in a geographical area. Special Agents assure the understanding and compliance with federal regulations regarding all aspects of aviation security and the hazardous materials regulations.
Civil Aviation Security Specialists
Civil aviation security specialists are responsible for coordinating and performing investigative, inspection and advisory work on airport and air carrier security cases at designated airports in a geographical area. Special Agents assure the understanding and compliance with federal regulations regarding all aspects of aviation security.

$15,000-$48,000

HS. diploma, law enforcement experience
